White:Memories
A downloadable game for Windows
A Controller is recommended for the best experience.
'White: Memories' is an experimental take on traditional Metroidvanias for SMVM 20. We attempted to combine fighting game like mechanics (Motion Input / Combos) and Souls-like mechanics with Metroidvania!
The game is rough around the edge and serves more as a tech demo of potential game mechanics. You may see traces of mechanics that do not exist in this demo. (Ex meter, levels, weapon switching, etc.) and are not accessible. These were temporarily cut-out from the demo due to time constraints.
The project was built from scratch (minus the 3D assets) from the beginning to the end of the jam period.
Features
- Combo-based combat system with the ability to perform 'special' moves through the use of motion inputs. Freedom to animation cancel through chaining additional special moves or with your dodge.
- 2D style traversal across a 3D environment of a digitally corrupted city. Inspired by the Copied City from Nier.
- 2 regular enemy types, 1 boss.
- 3 original soundtracks: Title theme, Overworld theme, Boss theme.
The expected total run-time of the demo is ~20-30 minutes or less. Game is very linear and short to quickly demonstrate the concept.
